We live in a world today that is full of perceptions, deceptions and misconceptions; it is often hard to tell one from the other when learning about new things.
Of all the many misconceptions in the world, there are many linked with hypnosis. This is why it is very important to seek out and understand the misconceptions before you assume what task you want to accomplish using hypnosis. So to really understand what is really behind the basis of hypnosis, you must first understand what hypnosis is not.
The only way to kow what is hypnosis is, is by finding out all of what hypnosis is not.
Hypnosis has been given many false pretenses through the media, movies and just plain rumor. Hypnosis is not the ability to have complete domination over one's mind, nor is it domination over another human being.
Another's will is also something that you cannot dominate through hypnosis. Complete domination of the world of of human kind is simply not possible through hypnosis, please embark on a new path now if this is your intention.
The endless amounts of misconception seem to surround hypnosis. Power over one's mind, thoughts, ideas, and actions are usually associated with these misconceptions; this is true in many types of work.
Power accompanies any way of life, society acknowledges this. Because of this, there are all kinds of associations and false ideas created with hypnosis. One example being money which carries connotations of power, though unless you are knowledgable about how to be powerful with money you will ultimately fail.
If you really want to be a masterful hypnotist, you must wipe clean any misconception you might have about hypnosis.
Power is the most common misconception in the field of hypnosis. While it is true that you may holt some sort of power over your subject's mind, you will never be able to control them completely.
The unconscious mind is actually being held in a type of negotiation with the hypnotist, so that those undergoing hypnosis are not controlled but quite the opposite. Your moral and ethical base are stored in your unconscious mind. As a hypnotist you can negotiate with the unconscious, while not ever actually controlling one's morals or ethics.
The ethical code stored by the unconscious cannot be broken, these are the beliefs and moral standards that every person lives their life by.
The common myths of hypnosis include a common notion that one can control another completely, this of course is a myth because a person, in a trance or not, will ultimately do only what they want to do.
A common example of this is the ordinary stage hypnotist. These men/women will call for volunterrs from the audience, the volunteers are aware on some level that they will be asked to do certain things without knowing what they are doing, even if they are embarassing.
Volunteers crave attention from being exhibitionists on some level in their minds. They are consciously ok with the fact that they know they will be controlled by the hypnotist because there is no conflict with their moral code.
