The iPhone is a modern communication marvel. In the current age of wireless communication, which is growing fast, you need to be aware of how long your portable power solutions will last, and the best way to manage them.

The mAh capacity rating apply's to the storage capacity for a battery. A battery with a capacity rating of 2000 mAh could deliver a current of 2000mA for one hour. Higher mAh ratings for the same battery type will generally mean longer run times.

There are basically three advantages of these types of energy cells being used in the iPhone.

1. Battery Size

First of all, these batteries are smaller but their size does not reduce the power that is available. In fact, the lithium polymer battery has a greater density and capacity of storage.

2. The Weight - these batteries weigh less. This goes well with the look and feel that Apple were going with the iPhone - The young teen market who are like things being compact.

3. Safety- Since these batteries have been designed for the iPhone, they have higher safety guidelines build in. These type of batteries are less prone to becoming overheated and therefore causing any critical damage to the iPhone or the user.

Extending the life of the Battery

Here are a few ways you can help to extend the life of your iPhone Battery.

1. Sun - The first step in prolonging the life of the iPhone battery is to make sure that the unit is not directly exposed to the sun for any long period of time.

2. Recharging - it is important not to run the batteries completely down. A completely discharged battery could possibly cause damage to the iPhone. There is a protective system in place to prevent this from happening, however, it is best not to take any chances.

It's recommended that the battery be recharged when the 20% warning message appears or just prior to.

3. Daily Charge - Also, even though the battery life may only allow for a maximum number of charges, it is important to charge it on a daily basis.

The reason behind a daily charge is that the uncharged day that the unit is used may call for the battery to operate at the lower one third of its operating range. This practice may potentially damage the iPhone battery.
