The tool of self motivation is as important to use as it is difficult to maintain. The problem is the amount of negativity ready to thwart your efforts at every turn. This results in low self esteem and lack of creativity. Negative comments, solicited or not, can discourage you from pursuing your idea. Don't give up yet. The self motivated person knows how turn all that negativity around and become more successful. Here are some ideas to get you started.
Embrace your strengths and weaknesses and work around them. Focusing on them creates negative energy which defeats your plan. Knowing your self concept allows you to choose tasks and methods that showcase your skills and motivation. As you achieve these tasks, enjoy the moment of accomplishment and you will be encouraged to go further.
Recognize success and reward yourself! Once you have set those tasks and put them to paper, review them each day and cross off the ones you completed for an instant pat on the back. The feeling of accomplishment makes you want to do more! Otherwise, you will be left droning from task to never ending task, unrewarded, feeling dread for the next day.
Dissect those great big tasks and turn them into smaller more manageable ones. It will eliminate a lot of stress and promote quicker starts as well as quicker completion.
Mingle with like minded folks. Even people with the best intentions can suck the energy right out of you and your creative self. You cannot change your Sister's negativity and lack of imagination, but you can choose the role she plays in your life. Find someone with common goals and interests to share ideas with and keep each other excited. It goes a long way.
Don't get mad, get done. Interruptions pop up and errors are made. They can only be as harmful as you allow them. Simply deal with the situation and move on. Getting angry and dwelling will only waste valuable time and energy.
Be good to your body. Feed it and exercise it. Mind and body are powerful together when well maintained, yet we often neglect them in favor of that few extra minutes of work. That is a bad plan because if the body quits performing, your productivity ends.
Although difficult to keep yourself motivated, it is also easier because it depends on only you. So turn the negativity around, stay on track, reward yourself, and get ready to achieve your dreams.
