Often times a calling card will still be able to work on landline phones to contact neighboring islands or areas, so it's a good idea to have one as a backup.

Another odd spot that one would dislike being in is to have their credit and debit cards canceled. This is a common occurrence when credit companies see a credit card being used overseas with no prior notification. As such, travelers should always forewarn their credit companies of their intentions on traveling abroad. This keeps their credit cards able, and their funds readily accessible.
